When Ponyboy's friend Johnny [Ralph Macchio] dies in a fire, his other friend Dally [Matt Dillon] wants to take it out on their rival gang (the Socs, or the Socials). Despite his own injuries, he tells Ponyboy that he will fight in that evening's rumble and that he will "do it for Johnny, man. We'll do it for Johnny!"
